Unlike Nixon, Ford was a man of integrity and had something few politicians had then or have today......balls!
Ford went from the frying pan to the fire when he pardoned Richard Nixon after Watergate which, at the time, was considered the reason Ford never won the presidency. Nowadays, everybody realizes he was dead on right. For this, he lost the 1976 election.

Ford did the right thing. He put the mess behind us, took the heat for the sake of moving on and wound up never being elected to the Presidency. Daniel Webster once said , "I'd rather be right than President" and it didn't work out for him either.

President W praised Ford today for "his quiet integrity, common sense and kind instincts." after Tony Snow wrote that for him and told him to just read off the paper.Bush credited Ford with helping to heal the nation and restoring confidence in the presidency.He then added, "common sense, did ya ever?" and was slapped in the mouth by Tony Snow who didn't write that. ...then Bush left the podium and went on about his day, dividing the country and lessening confidence in the presidency.

Not many people knew that Gerald Ford was adopted and lent his time and his name to adoption issues. Now that I think of it, this may be the only thing that George W. has in common with Ford. Because, as far as I can tell, it just isn't possible that W. comes from the same gene pool as Bush 41.

I can't believe your stupid assertion that Jerry Ford did good in pardoning Nixon. Message to subsequent president, e. g. W, do anything you damn well want to and as long as you have the political support you’ll get away with it.
Nixon should have been hung out to twist in the wind for his antics along with Kissinger right beside, and throw in Johnson and Reagan and why not Clinton too.
You should read Fiasco and State of Denial to see just how bad the Bush cabal is…how Rice did not listen to Tenet that may have prevented 9-11, how Wolfiwitz engineered Iraq around the holocaust, how awful Rumsfeld is in every conceivable way, how disengaged Bush is and how they did not want to hear or listen to the voices that told them how bad Iraq would be and how they acted on lies from the get go…but wait let’s preemptively pardon Bush for his preemptive war.
